Hiya!

I aim at holding a seminar through XMeeting. I am using my MacBook and I don't manage to make the internal webcam work:-( It does work, however, with an external webcam, but I find it a nuisance to have to use an additional gadget. Could you tell me which "Video Input Modules" should I enable?

Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers,
Alicia

See, the problem is that Macs WERE more stable than Windows computers. Since then two things have happened: 2000 and XP have introduced fairly stable versions of Windows, and Macs have become less stable. In a discussion I had on this issue recently, some one suggested this might have to do with the shift to the Intel platform. Hopefully Leopard will be better equipped to handle the new architecture...

Hi Klaus,

Natschool version 10 supports Firefox and runs on Mac OS X without a problem.
The release of NS version 10 was the reason why we bought a Macbook, we wanted to be able to test any problems ourselves. But so far, I've been just using it to learn to use a Mac due to lack of problems. :-)

Note: there is still a client version of NS needed for teachers/staff when preparing tests and courses. That part isn't available through the browser yet. I haven't tried that using Parallels yet.

Hi Pierre,

I started just recently at NHTV in Breda. They also use Natschool. I have become a mac-user at the university of Nijmegen and I really intend to buy a MacBookPro to use it for audio and video editing, graphic and webdesign, online content management and so. Getting access to the Novell network will be a problem. But for that I could use the standard desktop PC.

I am just curious if you managed to get into Natschool on your MacBook. Did you use Crossover or Parallels, or Virtual PC and installing Windows XP (both licensed through SurfSpot), in order to install IE 6.0 on Windows??

I hope that will be the solution, so that I can choose for a MacBook Pro.
You may answer me also by e-mail and in Dutch...

Many thanks for your answer, greetings from Breda,
Klaus Hoven

Pierre,

.Mac is really great but!!!: in Europe it's terible slow. And this moment a lot of people are complaining by Apple and i think they will solve it (they say that a long time already, but i keep hope). Read more info here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1081404&start=0&tstart=0

But again the service of .Mac on itself is great!

And remember that, if you like, you can set a right mouse click connected to the touchpad too. Tapping with 2 fingers will give you a right click (be sure to turn it on in the prefs first!). Same as scrolling with two fingers on your touchpad, but now pull your fingers off quicker. Not everybody likes it, but it works brilliantly for me!

I haven't tried that yet, primarily because I usually use the Macbook at home (in the evening or weekends). But I would like to try that and if you've already figured that out please let me know (by e-mail if you prefer). Thanks!

Have you tried connecting the MB to the Fontys network printers? That is real fun. If you would like to, I found a way of making it possible via IPP, but unfortunately that involves sending your password over the network.

The show desktop option you still have. It is in Expose (i think you have to press F10). For closing a window i always use command - W. And the reason for not totally quiting a app is indeed the reason Rino has been given. If you are used to it, i think you will like it. And another reason is: i load a lot of word files a day so word is always open and it saves me time to not tottally reload the program evry time i open a word file.
I ope you find your way!!!

Regards,

Bram

Ps: Closing a app has the shortcut command Q (quit).
PsPs Sorry for the bad english ;-)

quote: "Now don't tell me that makes more sense because it doesn't to me."

Because, if otherwise, this nasty habit of closing an app when closing [one of] its window[s] would be a disaster for multi-windowed apps.
